Tips on staying healthy this autumn
2018-04-06
The not so warm autumn months are here, but that should not demotivate you to sway away from your normal healthy regimen that you have been pushing since the beginning of the year. Here are a few tips on how you can stay active and healthy this autumn.
Firstly, embrace all the natural winter goodies that mother nature has on offer. These include pumpkins, sweet potatoes and even cranberries. It is important to keep your immune system fit because this is the time when most are susceptible to catching the common cold. An easy way that you can do this is boosting your immune system which can be done by increasing your garlic and vitamin intake.
Another sure way to make sure you are healthy, is exercise. Many at this point will be intimidated and think of hefty gym membership fees. This however isn’t the case. There are many cost effective activities you can do to stay in shape- even in the comfort of your own living room.
Let’s start with the basic which require no props. Push ups. It is very easy to hurt your body and do this exercise incorrectly. The trick is to keep your lower back as straight as possible and gather strength from your core. Next up is the plank, it may look easy to some (it is just keeping straight and still for a minute right?) well no. The trick is to start off by lying on your tummy and allowing your upper body to come up and be the main support.
The main aspect to focus on when keeping healthy, is your diet. With dedication and discipline comes results, this is seen in a break up of 70% good diet and 30% exercise. So move the couches away for some tae bo and remember, you are what you eat.
