Tips on staying flu-free this winter

2018-06-01

The winter season is upon us. Not only does that bring uncomfortably low temperatures but the nasty flu bug which will have some bed ridden for a few days. If this has already put you in a panic, worry not, we at Mille have a few tips for a healthy, stress- free winter.

Let’s start with something that is commonly looked over, washing your hands properly. Washing your hands often with a good germ killing soap will keep the germs at bay. If you don’t have soap at your disposal, a sanitizer can do the same job effectively.

Covering your mouth when coughing and sneezing is a good and thoughtful way to minimise your germs from spreading and affecting those around you. Make sure to sneeze or cough into the crook of your elbow and not into your hand. Doubling this with washing your hands after sneezing will make sure that you and those around you are well protected.

The general rule of thumb is that if your flu persists for 3 days and more, it is better to go to the doctor and stay at home, for those who are working. This will give your body ample time to fight the flu causing germs and get you back to your healthy self in no time.

Flu vaccinations are a good attempt to make sure that you are winter ready as they build up your immune system to get ready to fight any germs which may be harmful to you.

To make sure that you enjoy your winter, keep warm and be vigilant of any cough or scratchy throat which may result in a serious flu.
